Our firm’s roots are in its adoption practice. Copps DiPaola Silverman, PLLC has almost 40 years of combined legal experience working with more than 2,000 families in all types of adoption matters. Williams, are all Fellows of the American Academy of Adoption Attorneys and known throughout the state for their knowledge and skill in adoption and adoption-related matters. Emily Bolognino, is a third year law clerk assisting our attorneys and paralegal with these matters. We offer our experienced legal assistance for a variety of adoption issues. We handle private adoptions, foster care adoptions, agency adoptions, step/second parent adoptions, and international adoptions. We have extensive experience in interstate adoption placements involving the Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children (ICPC), having handled adoptions involving nearly every state in the country. We have also handled multiple adoptions involving the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) and have successfully litigated many contested adoption cases involving birth parents’ rights.

Our firm also represents adoption agencies on all matters, including licensing, surrenders/permanency hearings, and subsidy fair hearings. We are also happy to represent birth parents who have made the decision to place their child for adoption, whether the decision is the result of an unplanned pregnancy or other life change.

Copps DiPaola Silverman, PLLC has also been involved in some cutting-edge adoption cases, including adoptions involving three parents. We pride ourselves on learning everything there is to know about the client’s case and coming up with a plan that works best for that unique client. Often that solution involves thinking outside of the box and sometimes trying new things.
